Another Label Crew project

Hi there, happy Monday ( not as my husband would say, he hates Monday's)

On Saturday night I caught up with Susan and Tracey, gosh it's been ages since we sewed a label crew project.

We made these cute bags, perfect for my iPad. Just to confuse you all the polka dot one is not Susan's its mine.

Here's some more photos, but before you scroll down I must warn you, I have started my photography course and I love close ups with blurry backgrounds, so there is a few of them,

My bag

Tracey's bag
And wait for it this ones even closer

Susan's bag.

Boy we laughed a lot as we usually do. Thanks girls.

Now on to nothing important but I just read Susan's post and she has made a yummy looking cake which has got my mouth salivating for a piece, as Susan lives nearly an hour away I just cant pop in. Mmmm can I be bothered to whip one up in Joe's new Kitchen Aid chef deluxe thingy, it's seven thirty pm, argh I can't be bothered.but I still feel like something cakey. What's a girl to do? Now Andrew's eating a block of chocolate........I'm going to the craft room.

Goodnight.

Holiday memorabilia

Hi there
My title should read "what do you do with holiday memorabilia?".
This is what I do

We kept all of our favourite cards, receipts and tags and yes plastic coffee spoons. So I just stuck them all down on a 12x12 piece of card-stock. I also took, stole, borrowed, lent a couple of envelopes from the hotel, in this one I have put more receipts and anything I thought we may want to look back on. I have added a bit of washi tape here and there and that's it 'easy peasy'.

I also had to document one of the scariest hours of our lives

Again I stuck everything down on a 12x12 piece of cardstock and used the envelope as my journaling card. Inside the envy is more journaling and more newspaper articles. I have also attached a photo of a text I sent to one of my friends.

These two pages will be put in my Project Life album as inserts to week 15 which is finished so really I am finally up to date with PL. I do want to do two more 12x12 lay outs of Penang for week 15 but I am not stressed to get them done and of course there is always last week to start.

Joe spent half of Tuesday in the kitchen here is what he made.

OMG it was amazing
Here he is, so proud, he actually whooped for joy and did a little dance when he took it out of the mould, he then experimented making toffee string.

And yes it tasted as good as it looks.

Of to see what you have all been up to.

Photo or Postcard?

Good evening

When going thru our holiday snaps I came across this one that Joe took.

Doesn't it look like a postcard to you? I think it's a fabulous photo and I just had to do a lay out with it.
The photo says Penang to me, the street and the heritage buildings, the trishaws that you see amongst the busy traffic, you'll see a very old tumble down building and right next to it will be a super modern new building. This is in Georgetown which is the capital of Penang.

Now on to something different
If you are ever in Perth and you visit the Burswood hotel complex you must stop at their coffee shop and buy one ( ha if you can stop at one) of these

In my opinion THE BEST shortbread in the world. Far better than anything I can make, I have asked/pleaded/begged Joe to get me the recipe. So whenever we go the to the Burswood I have to make a little detour to get me a couple of these.

I hope your week is wonderful, mine will be a mixed bag, joe's Thermomix is arriving with a personal demo, joe is having a small procedure on his toe, more packing at nanas, back to work for me, drinks with friends, Anzac day, oh it's going to be a busy week.

Have fun

PL-week 13

Hi there
Happy Friday to you all
Just popping in to share week 13 with you
Here's the LHS

All about our preparation for Penang. Lots of stamping and the pattern paper is by Stampin Up.

For some reason I always think about photographing my pages at night time, although I did turn the flash of this time I still got some shine from the plastic pocket. My camera course can't come quick enough ( it starts on Tuesday, poor Sharon is going to have her work cut out for her).

Here is the RHS

Yay we made it to Penang. The top right photo is of the Premium class seats by Air Asia. We flew a budget airline but paid extra for budget business class, oh it was so worth it. The seats laid down to a flat bed and so so much leg room for us tall people. I would recommend them to anyone.

And that photo of Caitlin...what's that saying about a child in a sweet shop? Well we were all like that, wall to wall chocolate and lollies.

Here's an insert that I have done for week 14

Here I must say a big thanks to Leena who helped me with this collage. This LO was also inspired by Leena who did a similar thing when she visited Taipei, and speaking of Leena I have used some of the oh so pretty washi tape and doilies that I won on her blog giveaway.

Ok that's me done, of to work on weeks 14 & 15
Thanks for visiting
Enjoy your weekend.

Oh my goodness so much yummy stuff.

Thank you Leena, I can't wait to start playing with it.

And more yummy stuff arrived earlier in the week

Stamping Up goodies at the back and a whole lot of Papertray Ink at the front.

Random stuff
- getting up to date with Project Life, week 13 nearly complete
- Joe passed his second phase of driving which now means he has to do his
25 hours ( this means he has to drive supervised for 25 hours, this has to be
undertaken in six months, you can't complete it any earlier) after that he will
have his licence.
-the nursing home is having nana reassessed as they now feel she is high
care ie) incontinent, can't feed herself etc..so sad. This doesn't change her
care at all

Home

Here we are home safe and sound.

I'm a bit of a neat freak, not at bad as Andrew, however when it comes to packing suitcases I just CHUCK it all in.

I actually did have to get Joe to help me to close it. We all bought heaps and heaps.
So that's what I'm going to do right now, unpack that mess.

Enjoy your week everyone.

Phew

All safe and sound, thanks for your concern.
The tsunami ended up being .3 of a meter so just a little wave thank god.

At one stage I had got our passports and all the water bottles I could find in a bag ready to flee. Haven't bought my new joggers yet so I would have had to do a runner in my flip flops.

Catch up on some sleep today I think plus a wee bit of shopping, we leave very late tomorrow night.

Uh oh

Hi there
Just thought I would post this before hopefully nothing happens.
About half an hour ago we were sitting out on the balcony and I felt my chair begin to wobble, then the whole balcony, I looked at Andrew and said is this an earthquake, didn't know what to do so I came into our room and sat on the bed, that was worse the whole bed was moving, to say I was/am sh***t scared is an understatement.

Penang did suffer in the 2004 tsunami and now we have just found out that there was a big earthquake in Indonesia again the same place as 2004 and roughly the same size. I think we will be on tsunami alert, and trust me if the water disappears I am out of here. No sleep for me tonight I will be keeping a vigil on the balcony looking at the ocean.

This ones for Susan

Hello again,
I just have to share this photo from our walk yesterday. When I saw it I said 'joe joe quick take a photo of this for Susan ).
Susan loves polka dots, so here you go just for you

A polka dot public phone.

Here's one of my favourite photos

And Joe had about his fifth plate of these for lunch

One of only a few restaurants that sell pork. The hotels are all halal so no pork, lots of turkey bacon and beef bacon though.

More shopping today, I actually bought a top for myself and tomorrow we have to go and buy another suitcase, luckily we paid for a luggage upgrade.

Am itching to get home now and play with some paper (although one has been on holidays, one has still managed to do a bit of craft online shopping- insert sigh/laugh here...from Susan and Tracey, so there will be some packages waiting for me when I get home, plus an amazing giveaway that I won which I will share when I am home.

Not home yet though we still have a few more days of luxury left.

Georgetown, Penang

Today we walked and walked and yeah walked. It was so hot all of the locals were inside only us dunderheads were outside.

This is a walk we have been meaning to do on our previous seven visits but never got around to. Now it's done.

This street is called Campbell St, better known as China Town as it was Sunday most shops were closed ( not the big shopping centres just the street shops) which was fine by me.

Picture if you will, cars and motorbikes all jammed in around these umbrellas, that's how it usually is.

Oops there's one with me in it, the top of this building was amazing

Ok that's enough of that, then we had to go and try a Malaysian high tea, this is what you get

Plus this cute coffee

Sorry couldn't resist had to do a post with some food in it.

No Easter eggs or chocolate bunnies though, haven't seen one.

Some cards

Just popping in with a few cards I had made before we left.

The first is a lift from dawn Mcvey and uses some new PTI dies and stamps.

The dies and stamps fit perfectly and that's a new background stamp.

The next one was an idea I found on the PTI message board

It uses one of the bag dies (sorry the name escapes me at the moment)

And as for the next one, well it's going in the bin, there's just something about it that's not right

And I know you're over food, believe me I nearly am, but I really really have to show you this club sandwich that Caitlin had for lunch yesterday

OMG

All for six Aussie dollars. Talk about massive.

Oh and Tracey H.....even we had hot cross buns (well they were just a wee bit different) for breakfast this morning which I didn't expect. They tasted just as good. Hope you got and ate your years worth today.

Well that's it from me today, time to go poolside, it's happy hour (shame I don't drink) but they make amazing cappuccinos.

Xxxxxx
Happy Easter everyone.

It's rest day here today, hanging around the pool and walking to the tailors to get Andrews suit made.

Here's some more pics from yesterday.

Last night at dinner

This little fella was walking around when we had dinner the other night

You get the most amazing laksa from this place

Fried Kway Teow from our very favourite restaurant "Rickies". This costs about $2.30

It's 11.30 am here the kids are having their very first sleep, they even skipped breakfast, Andrew is back from his walk so I will leave you with this wonderful fruit carving

Have a happy day

Holiday 3

A break today from food.

When we walk out on to the road from our hotel we are smack bang in the middle of the night markets. Ya gotta love that. They go for at least a kilometre so I am getting some exercise, there and back that's two k's and not counting the k's one walks around massive shopping centres.

Here's some pics of the night markets

Yep that's Caitlin in a bag stall

Joe loves snap back hats as you will see in the following photo. The stall owner is really great we can now get rock bottom good quality stuff as joe has brought so much

Told ya

As we were having dinner last night this is what we saw across the road

If you tap on the photo and look just above the green roof you can see a monkey, there was a whole family of them with little babies.

So that's your little tour for today, see I can do a post without food.

Holiday 2

Now you may be forgiven if you think this is a food blog. Just had to show you last nights feast of local fare from a place called Long Beach. We come here every time, so so cheap and oh so tasty, let me show you

Very big meaty spring roll Au 0.60

12 chicken satay Au $4.00

12 beef satay Au $4.00

Fried rice Au $1.20 unbelievable

Just so you know I did sooo not eat all of this myself
And here's one from our balcony, what we wake up to every morning

Andrew is down there somewhere beyond the pool enjoying happy hour, I'm having a rest and the kids although there not kids anymore are in their Room going through their days shopping purchases. Caitlin spent the whole day in one shop it's like our Forever New shop only it's called forever 21.

Our biggest concern now is where to go to dinner and what end of the night markets do we start from.

Let me know when you get bored.

Holidays

Hip hip hooray we are finally here. PENANG
Here's a few pics so far

We flew Air Asia but went Premium class, so worth it the flat bed was wonderful and so much leg room for us tall folks.

OMG you should see this sweet shop at the air port in KL so stopping there on the way back.

Shopping in the morning and relaxing by the pool in the afternoon. That's what we do and that's what we like. We have been here so many times that we have done all the sight seeing.

Now this is me by the pool, yummy coffee a little swim then some stitching, ok ok I only did about twenty stitches but hey I've got two weeks.
And here's Andrew

Yep it was a wee bit humid making the lens all foggy.

Hope you are all well
And I hate to say this but I have my trusty iPad and camera and will be posting lots more photos.
