As Promised

Here is a photo of my stripey goodness. Oh i just love it and i love sitting at night and crocheting at the moment as its so cold and it keeps me warm. I am making a double bed sized blanket for Joe. This is a free pattern from Lucy at Attic 24 and so easy to do once you get started. Below i have been playing with some of my new craft toys. Tim Holts Tattered Flowers Dies, i got 5 petals and inked them, then spritzed them with perfect pearls, then scrunched them up and this is the result. Gorgeous. They would look great on top of a box.
One of my other toys was a stamp set from PaperTrey Ink. This set is called friends Til The End. I coloured the flower with my Copics, all of the other supplies are from Stampin Up.

Joe is making us Japanese Potato salad tonight (if he ever gets of the XBox) have you ever had it, divine...unfortunately i cant have carbs so i am going to search the web and see if i can find a recipe for a simple salad that we have when we get Japanese it only has cabbage, avocado, cucumber and tomato and this AMAZING dressing. Does anyone know what i am talking about or better yet have a recipe? BTW Joe was taught his salad by the head chef at one of the restaurants in the Burswood last Tuesday he made it especially for Joe as he knows that Joe likes Japanese food.
its cold here and that is making me very hungry.

One for Joe

...Although he wishes i didn't put this on my blog. Emma's challenge for this week was to do a lay out using the Doodlecharms cartridge. I don't have that cart but that's OK you can use any older cartridge. I have used a car from Every Day Paper Dolls. (much to Joe's disgust). This is a fun LO and in years to come hopefully he will remember the day and the fact that i put it on my blog. I am now going to watch some world cup soccer/football and work on my stripey blanket. Oh its gorgeous-i will try and remember to take a photo tomorrow.

18

Yesterday Caitlin turned 18.
Last Saturday we took Caitlin and 20 of her friends out to dinner.
Here is the amazing cake, a marble mud cake. It was YUM
Here we are, the four of us before everyone else arrived.

....and tonight.....well i wont be getting much sleep as Caitlin is going out " night clubbing "....ho hum...i have a headache already. Spent last night giving her a lecture..don't drink too much..don't go outside on your own...don't leave your drink unattended..oh the list goes on. 2am is time limit i don't think i will last much longer than that.
On another note congratulations to JOE who passed his learners permit today and will be driving on the roads (with his L's) tomorrow. Now we just have to workout how we can fit 4 cars in the drive- way.
OK i will be up late tonight at least it will give me a chance to play with all of my new goodies that have been arriving in the post lately.

Very tired

Well hello there.
It sure has been a busy week with Joe's birthday on Tuesday and the first of Caitlin's 18Th parties last night. I will post those pictures tomorrow.
This is what has kept me busy craft wise this week. My first attempt at following a crochet pattern. This pattern is free from here and gosh was it easy and quick to make. Two nights although the wool cost me a fortune. I love it. Sorry the photo didn't come out that great and you cant see my beautiful big black vintage button courtesy of my MIL. Here is another look although not a great one. Asked Andrew to take a photo of me wearing it but alas photographer he is not so this is the best i can do. (i am all dolled up here ready to leave for Caitlin's dinner/party).
Here is the card that i made for Joe's birthday. I find it hard to do boys card and as i had left it to the last minute this is what i came up with. I used my Cri-Kuts Pens. (pens that you can draw with on the cricut machine). I then had problems trying to get the correct size to cut the numbers out so i had to do it by hand. But now i know how to do it perfectly as i asked the lovely Tereesa for help.

I don't feel very much like scrapping or card making at the moment maybe that's because i am working on crocheting Joe a Granny Stripe blanket for his bed. The pattern for this comes from this great blog Attic 24. I recommend that you go and have a read. Lucy's post are so wonderful, her photography is breath taking, her crochet is bright and cheerful and you can follow her on her Connievan makeover.
Ok i am going to go and make sure that i am up to date with all of your posts and have an early night.

You're on my mind

Hi there hope you are all having a wonderful weekend.
Just a quick post to show you a card that i have made with the cricut for a challenge on this blog. We had to use brown, red and blue. I think i covered all that. All products are SU and the cartridge i used was Stretch your imagination.
typing quick as we have guests coming to dinner and they are about to arrive so i want to get this posted quick.
No time for spell check so excuse the mistakes if there are any

Sashiko+Log Cabin=ok I think

Guess what?
It turned out exactly like i had imagined. Don't you just love it when that happens.
This was so easy, there is one little error but unless you are a log cabin perfectionist you wont know what it is and i am not telling. Love this sashiko, i may just be a convert but how many things can i make along the same lines? Cushions come to mind but we don't really use cushions here, a craft bag but hey i have a few of those, some place mats sounds good but i got some beautiful black leather ones for Christmas. MMM will have to think some more.
Anyway i love it, now i just have to quilt it and bind it. Yes it will be hand quilted as that is my favourite thing to do (much like sashiko really).
Have a great day.

Here I am

Yes it's me, many, many years ago and check out the very blonde hair. Typical Aussie though, it's obviously cold as i am wearing a jacket but there is nothing on my feet. The papers are from Melissa Frances, aren't they gorgeous, apart form the papers further inspiration for this page came from Tracey in QLD with the use of my Storybook cricut cartridge.
Have finished my sashiko hand stitchery i am now about to start cutting out the rest of my chosen fabric (my least favourite part).

A sewing bee

The postie bought more happy mail the other day in the form of my new monthly kit from Cocoa Daisy.

It's fabulous and in it was one paper from October Afternoon that looked like an old sewing pattern and i knew exactly what i was going to do with it.

TaDa

This The papers, ribbon, buttons, alphas and journalling tag were from my kit. The tape measure is from a digital kit by Lynn Grievson and the library card was a free download that i got from here I printed it onto paper that i had coloured with Hero Arts digital complete papers and increased the size.

And Susan in honour of our night of sewing i actually got out my machine and sewed on this LO.

I am really happy with how this LO turned out, exactly how i pictured it in my mind, now i only hope that my sashiko coffee table quilt turns out exactly how i imagine it.

And speaking of Susan I made her weetbix slice today (if you want the recipe go here) and there is not much left.

We have a long weekend here, so it's another sleep in tomorrow.

Have fun everyone.

Happy Mail

Don't you just love it when the postie brings you yummy things in the mail?
Here is what arrived for me today. A Japanese sewing kit this type of sewing is called sashiko/sashico and is oh so easy all you do is a little running stitch, it's all marked out for you. I got this kit from here and there are so many styles to choose from. I am going to use mine as a center piece for my next coffee table quilt and yes its a red and white theme. More lovely mail arrived earlier this week in the form of this lovely birthday card that i received from Tereesa, its so unusual in the way it stands up, thank you i just love it.

And finally some mail that i will be sending out, Bries birthday card that i made with the cricut using the weld feature.
Have a great Friday night everyone and if you live in Perth a lovely long weekend. Yippee
