Oh yes i am way behind on my blogging, yet again.
Last Monday the Three Of Us caught up for our Labelcrew project.
We made these gorgeous journal covers.

Susan's on the left, mine in the middle and Tracey's on the right. Same pattern but all so different.
We also celebrated a very early birthday for Tracey. Her birthday is early February but we didn't know if we would be catching up before then. As Tracey's "One Little Word" for this year is baking we thought that her gift should help her along with her one little word. So along with some cake pans and cooling racks we made her these

and a tea towel (another Sweetwater project)

Love the tea towel, its not one i would use, i would have it purely for decoration and all my friends KNOW not to use my hanging tea towels.

I have my photos all ready for tomorrows post (didn't want to overload you today), all i have to do is to remember to post it.

Tea Towels

I do love Sweetwater just as much as i love Fig Tree,  today's crafty interlude comes courtesy of Sweetwater. I purchased the kit for two tea towels and here is one of them. (I whipped it up today)

much better i think. The doily is meant to represent a plate.  Caitlin is having a great time, although one of the guys she is travelling with had his wallet and I Phone stolen yesterday so with Caitlin's camera that was stolen on Saturday they are not having much luck.


i am loving looking at every ones December dailys
and that is what i am going to do now, when i get a cup of george.

Easter Pails

It seems like ages ago but it was only last Friday that 'the three of us' caught up for our monthly Sweetwater sewing night.
This is what we made with our label kit

again all three of us went for different colours and i must say that unusually for me mine was the brightest could be the fact that the only canvas i could get was bright pink or red and red doesn't go real well the sunkissed fabric line.

PS the buckets are bigger than i thought, i bought 35 eggs thinking that i would fill all three, and i can stuff all 35 into the 1 pail, that's probably why the one pictured in the photo looks a little wonky. Might need to find a big bunny to go in there and just a few eggs.

Hot hot hot

Hi all, it is so hot and humid here, we are used to hot but this is just plain yuk.
Anyway that's my moan for the day.
Here's a LO i made using supplies from my Cocoa Daisy kit (cant remember which month)

its a bit mushy but oh so true.
here is a card i made with inspiration coming from here (that really means that i copied it) but it turned out really well.

"The three of us" met last night to make March's label crew kit, and how cute is this-the tag is fabric, oh can i bear to part with it? I do have to make three more as we get four labels every month so i may just keep one, and can you imagine them in Christmas fabric to put your Christmas gifts in (that's what Susan did so if you click on the word three that is highlighted red you will be able to see it and check out Tracey's as well)

cant stop and chat, i have so so so many ideas and projects that i want to get my fingers into i just don't know where to start.

Sashiko+Log Cabin=ok I think

Guess what?
It turned out exactly like i had imagined. Don't you just love it when that happens.
This was so easy, there is one little error but unless you are a log cabin perfectionist you wont know what it is and i am not telling. Love this sashiko, i may just be a convert but how many things can i make along the same lines? Cushions come to mind but we don't really use cushions here, a craft bag but hey i have a few of those, some place mats sounds good but i got some beautiful black leather ones for Christmas. MMM will have to think some more.

Anyway i love it, now i just have to quilt it and bind it. Yes it will be hand quilted as that is my favourite thing to do (much like sashiko really).

Happy Mail

Don't you just love it when the postie brings you yummy things in the mail?
Here is what arrived for me today. A Japanese sewing kit this type of sewing is called sashiko/sashico and is oh so easy all you do is a little running stitch, it's all marked out for you. I got this kit from here and there are so many styles to choose from. I am going to use mine as a center piece for my next coffee table quilt and yes its a red and white theme. More lovely mail arrived earlier this week in the form of this lovely birthday card that i received from Tereesa, its so unusual in the way it stands up, thank you i just love it.

And finally some mail that i will be sending out, Bries birthday card that i made with the cricut using the weld feature.

2 weeks in 1

I have been sitting at the PC trying to load these photos for the last hour and guess what I AM OVER IT.
Anyway one has been so tired this last week that i haven't posted anything for a while.
Last weekend I was very lucky to meet a fellow blogger all the way from Queensland. Tereesa and i have been chatting for a while now and it was great that we actually met in person. Tereesa is a designer for Scrappy Go Lucky and was over here for a workshop, so of course i had to do the workshop just to meet her. Unfortunately everything that we made has already been put to use and i didn't get to take a photo. Now believe it or not I finally got to make a HANDBAG (yahoooo). Tracey and I went to the beautiful Susan's to get a lesson in bag making. You must click on this link Tracey has explained our fun night really well and its worth a read.

So of i toddled this morning (mothers day) to my brothers for a brunch with my new handbag excitedly showing my SIL my new bag and oh dear the only thing she liked about it was the fabric-guess i wont be making her one for Christmas. Never mind i LOVE my bag and that's all that matters....

Now i got very spoilt today, flowers galore, all of the housework done for me yesterday, some Clarins lotions & potions (my favourite) and best of all my car washed inside and out. Out to brunch then home again to make a LO and a little bit of crafty play. What did you all do?

Here is my LO. It's another hybrid. The house template comes from Basic Grey and was so easy to use and i got to use a Technique Tuesday stamp set that i have had for a while and never used, it's appropriately called "home sweet home". I had fun making this LO it seems ages since i did one.

Now on the diet front am going through a hard patch, not that i have eaten anything bad (been very good) in 3 weeks i haven't even lost a kilo, 100grams here, 300grams there. Very disappointing i guess this is the bit where some people give up, Not me I will keep going but i tell ya i had better lose more than 100grams this week.

It's Official

Yes it's official I CANT sew clothes of any sort.

This is my effort of a toga that Caitlin wore for her dress up day on her second last day of school.

Everyone else hired their costumes but i had just had a long hard talk (that finally sunk in,mind you) with Caitlin

about saving her money as next year she will be a poor Uni student.

Well her brain wave to save money was for mum to make a costume instead.

Now all you ladies out there who sew really well you would have had a fit if you saw how i made this. No measuring just a pair of scissors and some not very straight seams and a plate to cut around the neckline. Now we wont talk about the length (mmm too short in my opinion)

but hey who needs to measure i just got my scissors and cut. Anyway they had a great day and yesterday we all went to the Valedictory Assembly and shed a few tears and that is the end of one chapter of her life. Now on to new and exciting things.Tomorrow it's Andrews birthday (DH) so Joe and I made him this Chocolate Fudge Cake. You can get the recipe here

It looks pretty much like the picture so i will let you know what it tastes like.
Last but not least are some cards i made with cuts from the Gypsy/Cricut. I challenged myself to use only scraps from my scrap box which wasn't to hard as there are a lot of scraps there.

That's about it for me today it has been an emotional week with Caitlin's last school days and at work we had to prepare for our year 12's leaving as well. Next weekend is Halloween does anyone celebrate Halloween if so what do you actually do? Please let me know.

Challenge to myself and LO'S

Hi Everyone, hope that you all had a good weekend. We have had a busy Saturday followed by a very relaxing Sunday. "NOICE"
In keeping with my last post I have finished my LO that was inspired by Traceys
daughter Alex and scrapping the everyday things. This LO is very loud and colourful for me but i couldn't go past this cute American Crafts paper. This LO below is for the monthly challenge at TM's this month was a bit different as we were given a sketch courtesy of Kaisercraft to do with as we wish. This is my interpretation. A fun photo of my brother and his family.

Now here is the personal challenge bit. I made these Debbie Mumm wall hangings quite a few years ago and they are my favourites. I did have them hanging in our old house (only with blu tack--shhh) and am yet to put them up here. As we have been here for nearly four years i think that its time for me to get them on display (I did try blu tack ---shhhhh again) but they fell of the wall so i guess that i will have to make some hanging sleeves for them and do it PROPERLY. So the challenge to myself is to do this before the end of the holidays. :)

Now I am of to finish dinner as DH and DD, (DS away again) have asked for their ultimate favourite dinner. Roast chicken with homemade stuffing and home made chips. We don't have the chips very often as they are not that good for you and i find that it takes ages to peel,slice and cook them. If you haven't made your own stuffing you should its very easy, tastes much better than any shop bought one and you use up stale left over bread. I always make a big batch and then freeze it in portions.

Lucky Me

Here are three cards that I made with Tracey's
"A card makers Tea Party" pack. This class is held every month at Tomorrows Memories
although I don't actually attend this particular class I am lucky to get a pack put aside for me. So if you are ever free on a Friday morning go and find out when the next class is. My giveaway that I won on Melissa Goodsell's blog arrived the other day, aren't I the lucky one. My Japanese sewing book also arrived so I will put that fabric to good use Mel. Thank You.
A new magazine was launched today called Australian Homesewn and Melissa has a few projects in it, for more info take a look at her blog (link above) she has designed some gorgeous storage boxes that I am really going to have a go at.

On another note it's my baby girls birthday today she is 17 Happy Birthday Caitlin.

It's not long now until the "L" plates will be off your car and the red "P's" will replace them, then we will all start on another journey ie- I will be asking you "are you home tonight for dinner or out? Boy that 17 years sure went fast.

Have a good night everyone, I am not cooking as its Caitlin's choice tonight and she has chosen Nandos, we have never had it before and a new store has just opened up down the road.

Red Carpet Event

As you are all probably aware now from all of my posts, my local scrap store turns 5 this month and last night was their gala red carpet event. We just had to dress up in anything formal. As I wear an apron all day at work and don't really have a lot of formal clothes i got Jenni to make me a nice formal apron. I would like to point out at this stage that I am very reluctant to post these photo's of me as they aren't the best but I must parade Jenni's apron for you so ignore me and focus on the apron. (Oh the mark on the bottom of the apron in the second photo is a mark on the camera lens not the apron) It had sequins and nice frills at the bottom and beading and more frills at the top. Now all you animals lovers out there I am really sorry but this is a real mink,sable or whatever, my mother in law gave it to Caitlin thinking I don't know what!!!!! Caitlin will never wear it and it is politically incorrect to wear one these days and although the colour didn't go I wore it as it was "anything goes."

There were a lot of great outfits and some great jewellery that ladies had made out of paper and beads and a good night was had by all. On a sad note it was Tracey's last night working there but don't fret Tracey is still teaching some classes and for those of you that didn't know Tracey won a national award earlier this year for her card making.

Now to all of those lucky people that went to the quilt fair I would love to hear from you and find out all that I have missed this year.

For Susan & Tracey

Yes the girls challenged me to make some acrylic stamps with my cricut machine, so I did. The bird and the word 'beautiful" are from the home decor cart. Don't know why I did the bird when i could have done a thousand other things but there you go. I must say this is not my favourite LO and although i tried lots of different things nothing seemed right. (I was getting a bit carried away and I think i was putting more emphasis on my artwork than the photos -if you get what i mean) so i took most of the embellishments of and this is it. I still have to put some journalling on it. The cute roses are from the Walk in My Garden cartridge for the cricut machine. Now here are the Yo-Yo's or Suffolk Puffs and whatever else they are called. I am making about another 30 or so to go on a small tablecloth that I am working on (and have been working on for the last 2 years).

This is one of the many things that you can do with them. I made this tablecloth about 5 years ago and out of everything I have made I must say that it is one of my favourites (it's also Andrew's fav as well) I am sorry that I cant give the designer their rightful kudos as I cant remember where I got the pattern from -I cant even find the pattern.

I must also thank Karen my friend in Port Hedland who taught me how to make these cute things and actually if it wasn't for Karen I probably would not be doing anything crafty at all.

Definately not a PERFECTIONIST

Now all you sew-ers (I had to put that little line in because sewers looks like the garbage sewer if you get wht i mean) out there in particular Jenni (Mummy daughter time),Susan (stitch scrap sew) and Lisa (from A Spoonful of sugar) please don't have palpitations when you see my version of pot holders. They don't have binding and they don't have a loop (because I don't use the loop) and they are not perfectly square but the fabric is pretty cute and i have lots more :0) They are thick enough and work well-i just tested them out- and from the scraps I made these coffee coasters, for much neater ones you need to look at Jenni's blog http://mummydaughtertime.blogspot.com/ Jens are perfect. Great for using left over scraps.

Pure Indulgence

I have just come back from an hour or so and a coffee and lots of talking and some buying at Tomorrow's Memories and I couldn't wait to try out my new Hero Arts design block stamp. So here is a quick card that I have just made. I have also got out the sewing machine (although I only turned the light on for your benefit) and its all ready to go, but first I have to mend the dreaded PHATT pants.

Now for the real indulgent bit.......

And if you all read yesterdays blog you will know that I have the whole day to myself so.....

Who is coming to afternoon tea? you might ask. NO ONE its all mine.

so I am going to have this little tea party on my own (don't worry I am happy with my own company-glad to have time to myself) and then I will have a go at the sewing and then I will have to come back into my craft room to play with the rest of the goodies i bought today.

My Christmas Angel

I got home from work today totally exhausted and when I walked in the door Caitlin (who is on holidays) was doing all of my ironing. WOW. I cant tell you how excited this made me feel, this was better than any present anyone could have given me. I've never taught Caitlin how to iron so this was a first for her and I am a very lucky mum.
I just wanted to share with you my special Christmas angel brooch that my friend Karen made for me when we were in Port Hedland, isn't she gorgeous? Any Christmas party I go to she is worn proudly and I must say that I have made a few myself so if anyone wants the pattern let me know. I just had to show you my present for Joe's PCG (form) teacher. I made some more of Tracey's wonderful Christmas houses and I am going to put them in this pretty box with a box of choccies-hope she likes them-she is a special teacher.

Well that's it for now short and sweet I am of to cook dinner, have a good night.
