Lots of photos

Hi how is everyone. Hope you are all having a great weekend.
I have spent the last 15 minutes trying to get my photos and text up in this new format so once again i apologise if everything is askew.

OK so far so good. Here is a simple card i made for my friends daughters birthday, coloured with my copics.

and the inside of the card.

and two photos of Joe's stripey grandma blanket. L O V E it. I think that its the colour combo that makes it so eye catching. The minute it was of the crochet hook Joe had it on his bed.

 

Some Sunday cooking. Gee can you guess what type of jam this is. Cut out with my dear cricut.

I am very short of male cards so i put some thought into it and this is one i came up with. The present is cut by the cricut and all of the papers are from my Cocoa Daisy monthly Kit and i just had to use my ticket die and stamps.

Hopefully this one will pass for a male card as well, it is made from leftovers of a LO which is up next

This was made entirely with a Coco Daisy kit, every kit comes with an acrylic stamp (that sold it for me) and here i have clear embossed it in two corners.

Now the next LO is made with papers that i received from the lovely Tereesa for my birthday and this LO is very very simple but it tells a story and that is how i am feeling right now (no that's not true, how i was feeling on Wednesday) am glad to say that i have got passed that little hiccup, but i thought it would be good to write about my feelings. Click on the photo and you can read it. To me this is the whole point of scrapbooking, the journalling, the feelings, writing something as if i was speaking so that in years to come my family will know how i was feeling as well as how i looked. OK that was pretty deep-have i lost you yet.

A weeks worth

OK i am trying to work out how this new blogging format works so if everything is all over the place i am sorry.
Here is my third scarf all ready to be given to my friends daughter. So far i have made four all for gifts and am a bit scarfed out now.

So far so good although my text is now in the middle.

Isn't this crocheted butterfly just gorgeous. Here is the link where you can find the video it really is quite easy. I have made about 10 so far, some with magnets and some with clasps to go on coats.

Joe did some baking on the weekend and there are my fingers all ready to grab one. They were delicious  but not very diet friendly.

Here is a quick card i made this afternoon for one of our volunteers.

And last but not least is Caitlin's 18th album. Well the front anyway i will post the rest later in the week. I was given this album as a birthday present from the lovely Tereesa all i had to do was cover/decorate it and add the photos. The journalling still needs to be done and Caitlin will need to do that as i don't know the name of all of her Uni friends yet.

cards and crochet

Here is my entry for Emma's Throwback Thursday Challenge we had to use the Zoobaloo cart and make anything that we wanted with an animal, i don't have this cart so i chose this cute dog from Everyday paper dolls and used my Gypsy to make a card. Below i have just used some scraps to make a tag and at night sometimes i just feel like colouring-in so i thought that i would make a card out of some of my coloured flowers. I have used my copics for these flowers and the stamp is Stampin up (so is the cupcake in the tag)

oooooooooooooooo look at my granny stripe blanket it is growing and i still love the colours i have chosen (sometimes i get half way and think :i dont like the colour) anyway not this time. I am about a third of the way i think and in these cold nights its nice to sit and crochet.

I have a duck roasting in the oven (yuk not for me and Joe) but for Caitlin and Andrew, the smell has gone throughout the house ugh, now i have to think of something for Joe and I. mmmmmmmmmm something yummy and fattening is called for.

As Promised

Here is a photo of my stripey goodness. Oh i just love it and i love sitting at night and crocheting at the moment as its so cold and it keeps me warm. I am making a double bed sized blanket for Joe. This is a free pattern from Lucy at Attic 24 and so easy to do once you get started. Below i have been playing with some of my new craft toys. Tim Holts Tattered Flowers Dies, i got 5 petals and inked them, then spritzed them with perfect pearls, then scrunched them up and this is the result. Gorgeous. They would look great on top of a box.

One of my other toys was a stamp set from PaperTrey Ink. This set is called friends Til The End. I coloured the flower with my Copics, all of the other supplies are from Stampin Up.

Joe is making us Japanese Potato salad tonight (if he ever gets of the XBox) have you ever had it, divine...unfortunately i cant have carbs so i am going to search the web and see if i can find a recipe for a simple salad that we have when we get Japanese it only has cabbage, avocado, cucumber and tomato and this AMAZING dressing. Does anyone know what i am talking about or better yet have a recipe? BTW Joe was taught his salad by the head chef at one of the restaurants in the Burswood last Tuesday he made it especially for Joe as he knows that Joe likes Japanese food.

its cold here and that is making me very hungry.

Very tired

Well hello there.
It sure has been a busy week with Joe's birthday on Tuesday and the first of Caitlin's 18Th parties last night. I will post those pictures tomorrow.
This is what has kept me busy craft wise this week. My first attempt at following a crochet pattern. This pattern is free from here and gosh was it easy and quick to make. Two nights although the wool cost me a fortune. I love it. Sorry the photo didn't come out that great and you cant see my beautiful big black vintage button courtesy of my MIL. Here is another look although not a great one. Asked Andrew to take a photo of me wearing it but alas photographer he is not so this is the best i can do. (i am all dolled up here ready to leave for Caitlin's dinner/party).

Here is the card that i made for Joe's birthday. I find it hard to do boys card and as i had left it to the last minute this is what i came up with. I used my Cri-Kuts Pens. (pens that you can draw with on the cricut machine). I then had problems trying to get the correct size to cut the numbers out so i had to do it by hand. But now i know how to do it perfectly as i asked the lovely Tereesa for help.

I don't feel very much like scrapping or card making at the moment maybe that's because i am working on crocheting Joe a Granny Stripe blanket for his bed. The pattern for this comes from this great blog Attic 24. I recommend that you go and have a read. Lucy's post are so wonderful, her photography is breath taking, her crochet is bright and cheerful and you can follow her on her Connievan makeover.

Ok i am going to go and make sure that i am up to date with all of your posts and have an early night.

It's very bright & colourful

Hi all
Yep its finished, i have run out of all my horrible old acrylic wool, there is no more left in my wool basket-hooray. This is the end result.
It was a bit chilly last night so of course i had to wrap myself in my new granny blanket (who needs a snuggie or whatever they are called) and of course my ONE latte for the day. This LO I love and i am very sorry about the flash right bang in the middle of the photo but you get the general gist of it. The background was inspired by Jennifer Mcguire using a resist technique. I think it's about the first photo in a couple of years that i didn't have my glasses on, it looks so strange.

So my bag is made, my granny blanket is finished my rod pockets are on there is nothing for me to do now on the odd occasion I watch TV and i like to do something whilst watching TV so i think its time for another coffee table tablecloth, I'm thinking a Christmas one so that should give me enough time to finish it (keeping in mind that the last one was by the side of my chair in my bag for nearly two years) ha, but tonight i may just go and make my coffee, get some nail polish out to varnish my nails whilst I watch my ab fab show NCIS.

Its nearly starting so i am going

Last day of the easter holidays

Yes it's the very last day of the school holidays (except for Private schools so Joe is happy), I popped into work this morning for a couple of hours to prepare for tomorrow and now I am home enjoying my last bit of rest before the new term starts.

Now there is a bit of hooky going on here. One big Granny square and aren't the colours horrid! I am using all of my wool-that horrible acrylic type-that has been sitting in my wool box for years. On the odd times that I watch TV I like to be doing something so this is my current WIP and it hasn't cost me anything. Doesn't every house have to have at least 1 granny blanket. All be it 1 big square or lots of squares sewn together. This is my new baby, an ATG gun. I had one previously but it was no means as good as this one. I ordered this online from Albums & Answers and you even get a choice of colours. I was persuaded by Tereesa to bling mine up a bit so it was a good way to use some of the rubbons I have as I am NOT a rub on girl.

and yes i seem to be in a card making mood lately.

Pot Holders or Face Washers?

Hi everyone thanks for stopping by. I need your help. As you know i thought that i would make some face washers to go in my Easter baskets. I had this picture in my mind and this is the end result.. Yes they look like pot holders don't you think. Not at all what i had imagined. So I got to thinking again and thought "Body Glove", now this did turn out like I expected.

Which would you prefer do you think.

On to other things. I had my second online class for my Hybrid scrapbooking and must say that i am learning a lot and its not too hard.

This LO I did during the week and as i used more of my Hero Arts digital butterfly's (that i printed on white card stock and then coloured in with my Copics) and Photo-shopped the photos (ie I put a grungy frame around them) and did my journalling in Microsoft Word you would call this a Hybrid page.

Now this one I did last night and most of it is Digital. The blue paper and the flowers are a digi kit from J Sprague-Echoes of Asia and the word art was designed for the class by J Mcnally. The wonderful thing is these kits are FREE. Now without boring you the blue paper, photo,word art and 1 flower where all layered and printed on a sheet of photopaper. I then printed some extra flowers onto white cardstock cut them out and mounted them on foam and stuck them on. The brownish background is Kraft card stock and the title and journal strip are from my stash-not digital.

I will never do a whole LO digital for 2 reasons. I love the touchy feely textures and 3d elements we make to go on our pages and No 2- All of my LO'S are 12x12 and i cant print them out on my computer, oh and there is a third point, when would i use my most precious Cricut if i turned a digital scrapper?

Other things..

I have done my usual ironing this morning whilst mum came over and had a chat.

After that I made Hedgehog slice, which i had to taste (just a morsel) and some strange quiche Lorraine recipe (which i also had to taste). I say strange as there is no pastry, the bottom of the pan has a sprinkling of breadcrumbs and then you add 1/2 cup SR flour to the eggs. A bit like the impossible pie. However it did turn out and it tasted really nice.

Inspiration

Hi there, i hope that you are having a good week and that if you live in WA then a good school break. Just wanted to share a few things....
Here is a LO that i did the other day after getting inspiration from two different sources. The first was from Tracey
who always encourages us to scrap the everyday things, one of Tracey's last posts was about her daughter and her music and the SHUT bedroom door. This so hit a chord with me as it happens in my house all the time so i will have to do a LO about my kids and their shut doors. Anyway i am digressing (how unusual) this LO is about Caitlin's love of perfume and as it was her birthday last month and she was lucky enough to get lots of perfume i just had to do a LO. The second inspiration came from an article in the current issue of Scrapbooking Memories magazine. I used my LO paper as the background for my perfume photo. I think that it all blends in quite nicely, and of course the Craft Queen ribbons.
Yesterday i hosted a " real blog" lunch where i got to talk craft and eat yummy things with Jenni, and Susan and Janelle thank you all for coming i had a lovely day and we got to eat these yummy waffles and some fantastic cupcakes that Bec made. (I think that Susan will be putting a picture of them on her blog)

I also made the ladies some dishcloths to take home and try. It's something that you either like or don't (my DH hates them) I love them and i just have to share this with you- I took my crocheting to my 83 yo M-I-Laws the other day and she asked what i was making. Dishcloths i replied. "ARE WE AT WAR" was her reply. See all things come and go, although back then like quilts they were made as a necessity out of scraps.

On another note Jennifer Mcguire is doing some fabulous tutorials for Two Peas called Thinking Inking the links are up on her blog it goes for 6 or 9 weeks with 3 tutorials per week. You can download a pdf in case you forget the techniques.. This week is crackle paints (which is appropriate for me as i used these very paints at a class last night at Tomorrow's Memories).

OK-whew that was long, i have so many projects waiting for me at the moment and i seem to have a lot of mojo so enough from me i am going to go and craft.

How Popular Are These?

I cant believe that i actually crocheted this. Do you know what it is? They are the "in" thing at the moment or have been for ages and I have only just found out about them (See Mel's
or Tammy's blog). This is my very own dishcloth. As I am not a prolific crochet-er i did a bit of research on the web, its so amazing, you can learn anything, this one is made out of cotton and Tammy suggested bamboo (Bamboozel) but they didn't have any at my craft store. This one took me a couple of hours (it was my first attempt) but my second one only took an hour. Yes second one, I was warned that they are addictive and they are great for washing the dishes.

During the week i cleaned out my craft desk and found this in the bottom drawer so of course i had to put it on a LO. Very basic and simple but this LO is all about letting the image tell the storey.

and keeping with my own challenge to myself I used the left over papers to make two quick cards.

Can you guess What This Is

Did your mum ever make one of these? Do you know what it is? Well I got the recipe from this book (sorry its a bit blurry). Melissa Goodsell had done a post on this book a while ago and as I love cooking and making jams etc i just HAD to have this book. One of the recipes is homemade ginger beer. My mum used to make this when i was little and i will always remember the exploding bottles and then some of the bottles that had FLAT ginger beer and how mum always had to feed the plant everyday. The mixture in the bottle is the PLANT (my kids think this is really funny and want to know where the fizz will come from). This was a part of my childhood that brings back some very happy memories so I thought that i would give it a go and make some memories for my kids. To any of you who live in Perth I have to split my plant in 8 days so if you want it let me know. Or maybe you should wait until we have tasted the first batch :)

Now I always thought that i couldn't crochet and someone taught me way back when i was about 6 to make squares, it's funny how you don't forget. I didn't know what the stitches were called or anything. I have been using these cute little crocheted flowers on my LO's lately and thought surely they couldn't be hard to make, so after a search on google i came across this
and after watching it a few times i made these. With my liking for natural things i just had to go and make one out of jute and i am really happy with the way they turned out. They aren't perfect but not to bad if i do say so myself.

I am still waiting for my two books to arrive and again Mel Goodsell did a post on these a couple of weeks ago, I tell you every time i log onto her blog it costs me :) and these books don't have anything at all whatsoever to do with scrapbooking.

Have a good week everyone, I, hopefully will be making loaf after loaf of yummy bread when my book comes. This will probably make my bread maker obsolete.
