Done & Dusted

Last night I finished question 52. Can you believe it, a whole year gone and I managed to finish the challenge. I love the little book that I made so I had to show you it again. As it has been a sad year for me some of the questions where hard to answer but I did and in its own kind of way it was part of my grieving process. Not artistic in anyway but all made up of scraps and bits of ribbon and left over stickers, chipboard and flowers. So definitely not an expensive challenge. Here is a peek at the inside...
and here are some more cards that I made on Kraft card stock and again with scraps from another LO i posted before. Susan
estimates that I must have hundreds of cards but let me tell you they all get used or given away for other people to use.

Tomorrow I am very excited as i have enrolled to do an online scrapbooking course here
with Lisa Day called "The Challenge of Me", so that should be fun as I have never done anything like this before.
I feel that I should be baking or cleaning or something but I cant be bothered.
Joe got an Xbox for Christmas and has gone and purchased Xbox live and is having troubles getting a game (does anyone know about these things) so he is moping around and Caitlin- naughty, naughty Caitlin went to the beach the other day and came home looking like a lobster.
Before she went I said "put on the sunscreen and don't get burnt" her answer was "yes mum (roll of eyes) sigh ,yes mum " humph obviously the roll of the eyes and the yes mum mean nothing.
Oh dear-teenagers, and yes I was one once.
Now it's new years eve tomorrow who is going out or doing something exciting?? Let me know what you are doing as we are staying home so maybe i can share in your excitement.
Yes I really feel like I should be doing something right now but what, If I can be bothered I will go and make some almond bread/biscuits that i intend to give as gifts on Saturday night, oh alright i had better go and start them.
Talk to you all later
Linda

Oh my gosh, did I make that?

Hi there
I have noticed that not many people are blogging this week. Are we all to busy? Too right. I just had to show you this though,
You know my new toy the GYPSY well it blends things together and you can then cut them out on the cricut. Anyway I have watched a few you tube videos on how to so I thought i would give it a go and wow its so easy. I got a rectangle from the George Basic shapes cart and stretched it to the size i wanted and then i got the numbers from the Gypsy wanderings cart and positioned them on the top and then you press the weld button and hey bingo this is my result.
As you can see it is an album to put my 52 Questions in. The flower is sprayed with pearlised water, a great tip from Jennifer Mcguire .
I am so pleased with how it turned out (much better than what i had imagined, which is unusual) i will show you it in all its glory next week as then we will be on week 52 YAY. (and PS i am behind again but only by 2)
Only 2 more sleeps until you know who will be coming down our chimneys or through our front doors. Are you all prepared.
OK I feel like crafting something so I am going to turn around and steer my chair up to my craft desk
Have a good night everyone.
Linda

Always behind

Can you believe it-I am miles behind in my 52Q's again.

Here are 6 that I did on Sunday night so that made me 5 behind but alas this weeks q has gone up so now i am another 6 behind again.
Oh well it will give me something to do.
This week i have to get my fruit soaking and plumping up with one of dads many bottles of whiskey (yuk i hate that stuff) for my fruit cakes (yuk i hate them as well) for Christmas. My mum LOVES fruit cake and so do the ladies at work. So as an extra little gift i make them one every year. I have actually made a few this year as i knew it was something that my mum would be eating and we also managed to get dad to have the teeniest pieces when he wasn't feeling well.
That's it for tonight, i am off to play with my gypsy/cricut and make some acrylic stamps, if they turn out i will show you later. Ha even if they don't turn out i will show you.

....5 or 6

Welcome welcome welcome
As you can tell lately i have been in a card making mood so here are my weekend efforts.

Now i am finally up to date with my 52?'s as of last night of course so i expect there will be another one today. I really like the idea of these, some of the questions i have found hard and some don't really apply but i am having fun using lots of scraps and trying new techniques.

I haven't been able to sew at all lately (ie hand sewing on my coffee table quilt) as i tried out a new nail lady last week-i have been having manicures on and of for the last 25 years-and never ever have i had a reaction like i have got now. I don't know what cream she used but my fingers are red and itchy and lots of broken skin suffice to say that the chemist took one look and said i cant help you :( Surely their must be something i can put on them it looks a bit like eczema and i know that can break the skin and that there are creams for that. hmph!!
Okay that's my whinge and quite possibly my BIG excuse for not doing any sewing.
Joe is still away and we haven't heard from him for two days now as their mobiles are out of range. (In Aus our cell phone coverage does not cover all of Australia, and Joe is in the remote north of WA I guess you would call it the outback). It's fathers day on Sunday as well and he wont be here for that, very close to dads passing so i will make sure that mum is with us bright and early.
Boy when i started this post i thought that i didn't have much to say. Ha should have known better.
Am going now, have a wonderful week everyone
Linda

.....or 3 or 4 (Continued)

Gosh it's cold here today. Surely it must be 15 degrees maximum and when you are not used to the cold it sure does feel cold.
What a perfect day for making bread, more lemon cordial and lots of crafty things.
This is the last of Tracey's card packs that i had to finish. For the orange one i needed a mesh stamp and as i didn't have one i improvised and drew one. The top right one was not as Tracey's instructions as i was too lazy to cut out circles :) This is another idea that i borrowed/stole from Tracey. These are tiny cute little cards for lunch boxes. All made from scraps and a great way to try out some of my new stamps. The edges are perforated so you just tear them open. This one is for Caitlin and inside it says "I love you" (mushy huh). The one below is for Caitlin's friend Brie and says "I hope you are having a good day". I would not dare put one in Joe's lunch box. I have made them before and Caitlin was wrapped to open her lunch box and find it (everyone loves little surprises even 17 yo girls.)
I am still about 6 questions behind on my 52Q's quest so here are 3 more and i will get to work on the rest.
As you can see my new stamps included some cute Asian dolls (all from Hero Arts) for the middle tag i painted some canvas and embossed the little girl over the top.

We had a nice lunch with mum and she got to take home a plate of leftovers and half an apple pie that I made.
As i look through my window outside what a parody i see. Andrew sitting reading by the pool ALL RUGGED UP with his headphones on listening to the radio. How anyone can read and listen to music at the same time is beyond me, he must be freezing.
That's all my papercraft for the weekend i am now going to go and do some stitching on my never ending coffee table quilt.
Have a good night
Linda

Yes I am Still Here

Hello yes i am still here. It has been a very busy time. My mum turned 80 last Sunday and my dad turns 80 tomorrow. Yes he has made it. We tried to organise a small family part for them but it didn't work out as dad was not up to it. I have been going there everyday helping out and just spending time with them both. So although you will never read this Happy Birthday Mum and Dad.
The whole going back to school/work thing has worn me out as well, boy, two weeks off and my body didn't know what hit it when i went back to work. So craft just had to go on the back burner which doesn't normally happen here.
I have still been on the computer though and following you all.
I am so far behind in my 52Q's that i did four over the week. I so love doing these as i can honestly say that i get to use scraps and it feels good to use them and not waste them.
By now you will all know that i am addicted to acrylic stamps so when i was in my local craft shop and saw these, well....at only A$4.40 who could resist them and if you know me really well you would know that the one with the teacups on i probably would have bought them at double the price. (just love anything to do with cups and China) I should show you my China collection one day, especially my collection of espresso cups.
Last but not least here are two cards, actually they are a bit strange and i am not sure why i made them let alone why i am showing you. Maybe just to let you know that i have been doing a bit but nothing worth showing. ARRR the more i look at these I'm thinking they will have to go in my scrap box.

I have been crocheting more dishcloths and am just about dish clothed out and i have slowly been doing some stitching on my coffee table quilt.
You must go and check out this gorgeous quilt that Rumi has made and very quickly i might add it puts me to shame.
Well that's it from me, thanks to everyone that has sent messages and emails as to my where abouts. It's nice to be missed :)
Have a good week, i hope that you all get and give lots of hugs.
Linda

I have been a busy girl.

As I was up late last night (see previous blog) i had the chance to get a bit of scrapping done. I was a bit behind in my 52Questions challenge (TRACEY?) so this was a good opportunity to catch up. They don't have to be arty or perfect just anything that takes your fancy. Actually its a really good way to use your scraps. I wont show you the answers especially for the who or sorry what keeps me awake at night ones. Anyway y'all should think of giving it a go, some of the questions have been quite hard and really made me think.
I also finished two pages of Caitlin's ball album. I am following the timing of the day so i will be working on the Pre"s next. I think that at the end I will also do a page with all of the costs for everything, I am sure that Caitlin and her children will find it all rather interesting in the future. (Just hope I am around when the time comes).

I used Basic Grey on both pages, actually unless i say otherwise it will be all BG Porcelain, and i found this very pretty ribbon in the bargain bin at TM's to good to pass up.
And this is what i was doing for most of today..
I was trying to find some magnets (round ones like the little batteries) i know that i have got some but where have i put them? This lead me to a big clean up of my craft room and 3 garbage bags later i still cant find my magnets.

I'm a bit done in now and Andrew just asked if i was going to try that hedgehog (disaster) slice again? Why he just cant eat the crumbly one with a spoon I don't know :) It all tastes the same...
That will have to wait until tomorrow.
Goodnight everyone have a lovely Sunday.
xx Linda

52Q's

5I actually put these in the correct order-what a fluke. I am going to join Tracey from http://alusciousjourney.blogspot.com/ and do the 52Q challenge. Here are my three tags for the first 3 weeks. I have scanned them so the quality hasn't turned out as good as taking a photo. The first tag is actually green. I found these very easy to do and am going to love the fact that I can use any technique or style that takes my fancy. It is also going to be a great way to use scraps. Here are my answers and I am going to be 100per cent truthful so don't be shocked by some of the answers. Not that I know the questions, we find out each week.

What am I going to do with 52 tags you might ask? Well that's another question and seeing that I am only answering 52 I will let you know another time.
Jenni surprised me today with my cupcake apron which is gorgeous and I will take a photo to show you all and make you jealous.
I had better stop all this crafting for a whilst and go and do some boring things like wrap school books b/c the holidays are nearly over :(
Thanks for reading my blog
xx Linda
