Project Life Week 14

Gosh can you believe it is week 14 already?
It's April nearly May
One week of school before holidays, yay it has been a very long term

My week 14 came together very quickly, however I have only one pic to show you

Due to that picture on the bottom left. That is my foot covered in water in our MAIN living area. The hose to the washing machine came of and flooded the whole house and I mean the Whole house except for our bedroom and Caitlin's. The craft room and Joe's bedroom were the only carpeted area that got soaked.
The rest of the house has lino apart from the main bathroom and loo (they are tiled) and it was all underwater. So my craft room had to get packed up and this also meant the computer and printer, but we are an apple family and there are plenty of iPads around here so that wasn't a big problem. I did make a scrap stash of the bare essentials which is now housed on the dining room table, and thank goodness for Studio Calico kits I just grabbed my latest two kits. Alas sob sob I am still waiting on my March and April Project Life kits from them (so is Tracey except she is waiting on Jan as well).

Nothing too exciting for week 14 except I did get quite a few Instagram comments from my scrapping idol Shimelle which absolutely made my day as I was very sick in week 14. I also got three IG comments from Amy Tan which also made another day, see it doesnt take much too make me happy.

Caitlin is starting to gather and oprepare her resources for her big teaching prac so that is keeping her busy and at home, no night clubbing for the time being (thank god says mama)

Andrew and I made up a new word "DLunch". Dont you just love it?
Our Saturdays are quite busy, after a little sleep in we clean the house from top to bottom, yes he helps and to be honest probably does more than I, then we go and do a bit of weekend shopping so when all thats finished it is normally around two pm so we like to treat ourselves to lunch out. This particular Saturday we were running a bit late it was near too three and we could not find a restaurant that was open, they had all closed to prepare for dinner so down to Hillarys we went and one of our old favourites was open all day. As this is our only meal for the whole day the man had to repeat our order back to us, honestly it wasnt that much just an entree each and a main but the entree did have a lot of bread, so that finished the day nicely. The kids know now that they have to get their own dinner on Saturdays as I sure am not cooking and Andrew and I never eat dinner on a Saturday.

I must point out that wonderful currents stamp that is available from Studio Calico it is "awesome" so awesome in fact that i I may have got super excited and ordered another one by mistake ho hum thats me all over.
I also must share THIS link with you. If you ever need Project Life inspiration check out these free videos from Two Peas there is a PL one every week and whilst you are there check out Glitter Girl her last weeks video was AMAZING episode 65 be sure to go and check it out so so good.

Wow long post hope you enjoyed it and yes Caitlin I am trying very hard to not be lazy and make sure all of my I's are capitals..

Week 9

Hello hello hello
how lucky am i, Andrew (DH) is on holidays and i have not had to cook anything for three nights as he has discovered a hidden passion for cooking. Imagine my delight when he text me today asking if braised bbq ribs, a salad and crusty bread was ok for dinner...are you kidding...i would eat anything if i didn't have to plan and cook it. Sadly (although its quite funny) he said "its takeaway tomorrow night, i have had enough" ha, i said, "now you know how i feel but i have to do all of that after work".

ok here is week 9 of my Project Life
thats the whole page for you to see, i used a lot of Studio Calico printables that anyone can download and buy, some washi and my favourite doily from PTI.

obviously this is my title card which i found inspiration from Leena (you should check out her PL if you haven't already, AMAZING.

on Sunday i spent a good hour peeling mangos and scooping out their flesh to put into bags to freeze. We usually give about 75% of them away but i thought this would be a great idea especially for smoothies. So this year we are probably giving about half away.
and at the ripe old age of 18 Joe decided that it was time he learnt too iron, as he leaves for New Zealand on Friday the lessons had to start pretty quick.
sorry actually had too much light for this photo. This little cute envelope was in my Studio Calico project life kit and although i love love love oh their so cute love love love them, i do find them hard to use, but not this week, It was our state election and it is compulsory to vote here in Aus so i actually put some of the leaflets from the party that i voted for in the envelope. As this made it rather bulky and this photo is in the top pocket i put one of those mini clip thingys over the top so it wouldn't fall out.
and when Joe gets back from New Zealand and finishes his holidays he starts at a new restaurant at The Crown called Bistro Guillame and laundry have already prepared his new chefs uniforms so he took a photo for me. This will be Joe's last rotation at the Crown after this he will be a qualified Chef can you believe it, three years, time goes so quickly. He hopes to go back to Nobu and work his way up to Junior Sous Chef then travel the world with Nobu.
and last of all Andrew and I had another leisurely Late lunch/early dinner on Saturday at one of our favourite places The Merrywell and surprise surprise this happens to be at the Crown as well.

No pictures of Caitlin this week she was busy with one of her bfs 21sts and has only just given me the photos but i may just cheat and include them in next weeks PL, does anyone else do this?

Thanks for visiting

Project Life week 9

Hello there, happy hump day
My week 9 found me in a quandary as i actually had a few too many photos but wanted to include them all and i couldn't put it on a two page spread as week 9 was on the right hand side of my binder...does this make any sense to you?
Anyway this is what i did
I added a pocket page from Snap to be my first page for week 9
it looks like this
which was quite fun as i got to mix up my title card a bit. The bottom photo is from my Instagram account giving me the details of when i posted my very first photo.
here is the reverse of this page
all about Joe's cookbooks and this funny photo of my niece that i copied from her Instagram account.
now on to the main page
Andrew went to the football and i went out to dinner-only fair- and even though it's still hot here, for ease and simplicity my crockpot does get the odd workout.
Caitlin went to two 18th birthday parties and felt old!!! It is nearly time for all of the 21sts to start happening, i had a night of cameo cutting and our mangos/mangoes? are ripe to eat.
I had to document my washi haul and used them to decorate my page
and last but not least was our Saturday luncheon
Apart from my washi everything i have used came from my Studio Calico Project Life kit or was a Studio download and cut with the cameo.

Joe is now on holidays preparing for his trip and competition to New Zealand next week, on Monday Andrew starts some holidays, Caitlin is back into the uni swing and extremely busy this being her last nine months of uni and ho hum i still have work.

Enjoy the rest of the week and thanks to all of you who left a comment on my last post, i got two new followers and have reached 40 yippee party party.

Project Life Week 8

Hi there
i am still managing to keep up to date with my weekly Project Life and here is our week 8

Apart from the title piece of paper everything else uses the Studio Calico Project Life kit, which if you follow my Instagram you will know that i absolutely love it, love it i tell ya even down to the cute box that it came in.
Yes Joe got another burn, not his worst by far but it was pretty good and seeing i didn't get any flowers for Valentines day (: i think Caitlin took pity on me and bought some Sunflowers. The pretty turquoise glitter tape did not come in the kit either, boy i love that stuff may have to invest in every colour.

Andrew spent all Sunday afternoon preparing dinner, it was really nice and as a added bonus there was heaps left over for Monday night so that was two nights i did not have to cook. OK i found something else not in the kit, it's that gorgeous striped colourful washi, it had just arrived so i had to use it.

Am not too sure on this pocket its done now and away but would be my least favourite from a scrapbooking point of view. I love the photos of Caitlin and Bec at the beach having some fun before their very last semester of Uni begins.

I had to document the arrival of said kit and Andrew had his works yearly day at the races and he's a good boy and brings me back a heap of paraphernalia.

and lastly, my God Daughter was invited to her very first school ball so i had to document that.

I have found the perfect place with the best light to photograph my PL, if you haven't guessed it's in the kids bathroom, as one of the walls is made of glass brick the light is just perfect.

Now i am off to check the B.O.M site (Bureau of meteorology) as there is a huge cyclone about to hit my old town of Port Hedland and if you have read one of my last posts you will know that cyclones fascinate me and I'm a bit of a guru on cyclones and hurricanes. I just hope everyone is OK as this looks like a pretty damaging one.

Night all.

Week 6

Hello all, thanks for stopping by and reading my post.

It has been a real hot day here today 40degrees C and when we are at work and moaning in air con comfort we turn too each other and go "poor Joe" as none of the kitchens at the Crown resort have air conditioning. I could not stand it.

I just may stick to my new routine of doing my project life on a Monday afternoon, it stops me from having a Nanna nap and also keeps me from the kitchen and eating, ha, maybe i should do this every week day.

Here is week 6
All cream based this week so i didn't use many of my Studio Calico die cuts as they are mainly white based. I used an old 6x6 paper pad from Sassafrass called Count On Me.
I did use quite a few of the Studio Calico wood veneers, i love them and some arrows that i coloured with my Copics. Not going to mention too much about the yummy thing there in the middle as the competition isn't until March and although not many people read my blog i don't want to give away their creations just in case someone does stumble on it.  IYKWIM

Have to go and cook two meals tonight as Caitlin and i are having Spaghetti Carbonara (yes i know its not diet) and Andrew doesn't like it (who in their right mind does not like carbonara-bacon,eggs, pasta, cream) so i will make him something else.....honestly the things i do for the ones i love.
Might just go and have a swim first though.

Week 5

Hello there
alas school holidays had to end sometime, it was back to work for me on Monday and i knew that i would be so so tired when i got home, so instead of sitting/lying done and reading which inevitably ends up with me having a nana nap i thought i would get stuck into my Project Life.

I am really glad i changed to a one page spread as week 5 i would have found it impossible to fill a two page spread and there are only so many filler cards you can use.

This week i used cut shapes from Studio Calico and some papers from Simple Stories (Snap range). I did use wash again, not with my eyes closed this time and made an effort to use my stamps. There are no 3d touchy feely things this week.

The top right is all about Joe's latest eBay purchase, i haven't done much journaling on it as i will use this photo on a 12x12 LO as well.
The bottom photos are all about another visit to Nobu for lunch and this time instead of Joe being in the kitchen he was eating with us. I was actually surprised that he wanted to come as, who generally wants to go to their work place on their day off?
Where ever you are in the world i strongly, supremely, earnestly, hugely, recommend you to go and find a Nobu restaurant and give it a try. Yes its Japanese-well kind off and yes there is some raw fish/sashimi but there is oh so much more. Try the Bento box that way you will get a little taste of everything....have i convinced you yet?

It really was a quiet but nice week and now its documented. How is your week 5 coming along?

Thanks for visiting
xx

Interactive Project Life

Sometimes I surprise myself.
This week i actually had a few too many photos for a one page spread but not enough for a double so i wanted to make a teeny tiny mini album to include in my Project Life. OK making it was easy but how to include it as i wanted everyone to be able to see the photos.
Hmmm...
After not much thought i came up with this
I cut a slit in one of the pockets and put the last page of the mini behind it and that left the rest outside of the page protector for people to flick through. Love it. So simple.

So here is week 4.
Terrible photo of me but who cares its me. I found this cute Journal reading card in my stash i had been waiting to use and as i am a book worm it didn't have way enough room to record the books i had read since Christmas. It normally takes me about two or three days to read a book, so about 2-3 per week is a pretty good average.
Again i used some washi tape and a little bit of stamping.
During the week i received a clothes package in the mail that was wrapped in this beautiful orange tissue and instead of throwing it away i made it into flowers. So still going with my interactive theme i stuck this on top of the page protector.
As it's only tissue it will flatten over time so it wont create too much bulk, but it does add some texture.
Love all this touch feely stuff.
I started back to work today, only a couple of hours a day this week, ease myself in gently, oh it's a hard life.
Have a great week everyone.

Project life week 3

True to form on the Christmas holidays i have no trouble keeping up with Project Life and other crafty pursuits, here is week 3
Again i have used mainly downloads cut using the Silhouette, i never thought i would use those framey ones with the @ and ampersand symbol but i found them surprisingly simple to use.
Sticking to last weeks theme( of sticking things on top of the pages) and as i want this to be kind of an interactive album and really if I'm honest the cute envy was too big to fit in the pocket and i wanted to use it so i stuck it on the outside.(envelope is from Amy Tan)
My thinking is that its far easier just to open that little flap than delve behind the photo and find the journaling.
When i stopped and looked at this weeks page i realised there is only one photo that includes people OK 2 if you count my feet, again there is plenty of photos of food but hey that is a part of our lives (oops I'm wrong, there is a photo of Simon in the collage  with the envelope so that's three)
Again i went to my tin of washi tapes and closed my eyes and picked one-this is my very scientific way of choosing colours-am going to try this on every week, just hope i don't pick the Christmas washi, and i had all of my Studio calico stamps next to me to use, another thing i aim to use every week. I also noticed that my go to colour over last year and this short one is red, if it looks a bit dull or is missing something then i always go back to red.

Can you see that circle cut out? The one that says 11.49. Mama Mia..... Andrew and i both slept in until this time last Saturday cant say we have ever done that before. Luckily we had a relaxing day planned which involved going to our local mall/shopping center and having an all day breakfast it was delish.

So I'm still quilting my table runner, for goodness sake it's only a table runner but it's taking me ages and Joe is waiting patiently eagerly for more pockets and another Block of the Month has arrived and i really want to get involved with Shimelles sketches and do some 12x12 layouts gee if i was a LIST making person i could write all of this in a list.

Goodnight all and thanks for stopping by.

Two Lay Outs & Project Life week 7

Well hello, how are you all?
First of all i will start with my PL
Here is the LHS
A bit of a heart theme, it was Valentines Day during this week. Nothing super exciting just your everyday stuff but how good does that tuna look in its heart shape that Joe prepared at work?

Here's the RHS

which includes a not very good photo of a red back spider that we nearly sat on.
Even Caitlin's friends know that i scrapbook and like to have photos, so they are always posing/acting up for Caitlin, a good example is Caitlin's friend Nathan who always says "lets get some snaps for Linda". Here he is hanging of a street sign (i don't think he was 100per cent sober at the time).
The papers this week came from a 6x6 pad from My Minds Eye called "Love Me".

I also completed two lay outs to go with my PL

am super proud of this one. The scrapping is simple but i did a lot of digital work on the photo. Andrew didn't take a photo of the actual horses so i had to source this one, then i fiddled around in photoshop with masks and opacity, i printed the whole lot out on cardstock. I also made a little envelope (using the cricut) out of vellum as i wanted it to be kind of translucent. Love how it turned out

For the next LO i also had some fun in photoshop

i used one of their "create a page" features and it gave me this nice photo collage with vintage frames. I just printed it out on photo paper and cropped it, a bit of studio calico mist, some doily's, stickers and a wee bit of stamping and voila all finished.

Tonight i hope to play around with some cards and stamps and tomorrow after the ironing is done i am going to concentrate on cutting out all of my remaining blocks for the caravan quilt that the "Three of Us" are making.

thanks for stopping by

have a lovely Sunday

A Simple card and PL week 6

Evening/morning everyone. Its evening here and a hot humid sticky one i might add.

First up a card. I had a photo left over from one of my Project Life weeks and i know my mum doesn't have an up to date photo of my kids so i made it into a card.
Very very simple, and i got to use a Ali Edward stamp. The ribbon is from my Cocoa Daisy kit.

OK on to Project Life, and a little bit of playing and fun. I got some new fringe scissors so i had to use them in my title. I also got some October Afternoon goodies in the Sasparilla line so everything i have used this week comes from them.
Sorry about the flash, i left it too late in the day to photograph, but you can still see
here is the LHS
I had fun this week playing around with digitally typing on some of the photos before i printed them. Its a good way to journal if you know you are going to have enough photos for the week and not enough journal space.
and in case you are wondering about the shoe photo, i am 6ft tall or 182cm and i have HUGE feet and it is so hard to find ladies shoes in giant sizes. I have been forced to buy mens shoes that look kinda like ladies shoes, anyway i found a website that is especially for giant ladies feet except they are so so expensive but what can a person with giant feet do, i had to have at least one pair. So, i have my first pair of ladies shoes in about 12 years, yahoo i was excited.
ok enough about me, here is the RHS

i tell ya i was getting a bit desperate that week for photos and even took a pic of Andrew's new watering can! Oh, if you get the chance go and grab an iced coffee frappe from Maccas, or maybe not ,if you are on a diet and be warned they are addictive.
I do like to try and use some of my stamps in my PL pages usually my Ali Edwards club ones but this time i used Stampin Up and papertrey Ink.

One thing i have noticed is that there are a lot of food photos in my PL, i can blame some of it on chef Joe but not all.

All in all i love doing Project Life, i have fun using bits of my stash and playing around. It does take me about three nights to complete, it doesn't have to be that way, i just like to add a lot of bits and pieces.

Andrew is on the countdown for our yearly trip to Penang, we leave in about 6 weeks i think (ok i wasn't actually listening when he told me the countdown)but its not too far away and this time we are flyiong premium/business class oooooooooooo i cant wait.

thanks for visiting, please say hello and come again.

have a great week everyone

Banana Bread & Project Life

Well what do the above two have in common? Absolutely nothing, but i made some banana bread on Sunday with i recipe i got online (and can you believe i have lost it) and oh boy it was seriously yum. We aren't big cake eaters here and i can make a cake and then four days later i end up throwing half of it out. Not this bread, it was made and eaten all on the same day. The addition of maple syrup flavoured butter might have helped also.
Here is my project Life for week 5. I have had fun making my own journal and header cards using lots of supplies from my stash and lots of October Afternoon papers.
the LHS

The highlight of the week was Joe meeting Buddy Valastro and as Buddy had about twenty minutes to spare he was gracious enough to spend it with Joe asking questions and watching MY boy cook. (proud mama).
RHS
I purchased some more washi tape during the week and had fun covering my hearts with it (this tip came from Nichol Mcgouirk ) The four of us went out to lunch and had a fun time. I love my kids we all love our kids, but if possible i think i love them even more at this age 17 and 19, it just great hanging out with them.

and i tried a new technique that i learnt from watching "stamp TV" on You Tube
easy and fun.
Thanks for looking and still following with my erratic posting.
xx
Oh and Happy Valentines too you all. My flowers/card and chocolates seem to have got lost again...that's about three years in a row now.

Project Life weeks 2 & 3

Just thought i would share my PL with you as its too hot to do much else.
So here is the LHS of week 2
for this week i didn't use much of the kit, instead i used one of my 8x8 paper pads from October Afternoon. I made most of the journaling cards and in the case of "Joe's Story" i actually scanned the paper and then made the circles smaller so i could see more of the pattern. I actually amazed myself that i could do this.
Here is the RHS

see that wonderful 4x6 photo collage, you can  buy the template here for US$4.00, you get 20 templates and like in the image above you can incorporate up to 15 photos. Its easy to use and worth every penny i reckon. On this page Caitlin got her make up professionally done at Napoleon, she knows to keep receipts and such for me now so i cut apart a little card that she was given.
I actually did a 6x12 insert for week 2 as well so here that is

more hybrid scrapbooking and another great photo taken with my I Phone and an app called Incredibooth (I think)
then of course i had to put something on the back so here tis
It was an early birthday gift for Tracey and as Tracey loves banners i used them on the page.
Now on to week three.
For this week i mainly used the Clementine kit, with bits and pieces from my stash
here is the LHS
even Joe is sending my photos via his IPhone and poor Caitlin did you ever see such an unhappy face/mug shot.
here is the RHS

bottom right is an image from my IPhone again using the Diptic app and if i haven't said it already "if you have an iPhone you NEED this app", and on the bottom right is some more digital work, i love typing white on photos.
Now if you made it to the end I THANK YOU.
For all you fellow Aussies have a wonderful Australia Day
i am now going to jump in the pool.

Week One

Hello hello hello

I have joined the thousands of others and am doing Project Life (link in sidebar) for the first time this year. For those of you that haven't heard about it, its all about documenting the everyday, you don't have to take a picture a day or anything like that, but its remembering the little things. IE when Caitlin was little she used to say ambulance wrong, Joe used to say hospital wrong and for the life of us we cant remember how they used to pronounce them. If i was doing PL back then i would have documented all this so that i wouldn't have forgotten, because we do forget.

Here's my first page
sorry chopped of the photo.
Now it all sounds easy and it is easy but when i went to do this very first page i sat at my desk shuffling things around and got completely overwhelmed after about half an hour i gave up, took my IPad to bed and studied this lady"s blog. I love her PL and although i cant/wont copy her style i love that she has made each page a bit scrapbooky which is want i want to do. So the next morning i got up and of i went, easy peasy, i had so much fun. I used stamps that have never been out of their packets and letter stickers that i seem to have thousands of. Oh yes i do likey PL
here's my next page

oh and if you are wondering about the top left photo, Joe was on YouTube and saw Smores. Well we don't have Smores over here and definitely not the right crackers but he made his own version. I have to say that i could not bring myself to try them. So all in all i had fun fun fun doing my first week and am going to start documenting last week today, some weeks i know i wont have enough photos for a two page spread but that's OK you can do it any which way.

Wow you have made it to the end
Thank you

Is it too early?

Never having done Project Life before is it too early to show you my first/cover page?
Well i want to be up and ready for the first week so i have done my first page already
here it is
I got to play with a lot of stamps that i have never had out of their packaging before. I can see this is going to be a great way to use my Ali Edwards Technique Tuesday stamps that i have been accumulating over the past year. It's also going to be a good way to use all these little bits and pieces i have in my collection.
Funnily enough this page turned out quite bright and i would never have said that bright was my style..hmm.
Any way i am sure that each week will take on a different theme and look completely different.

So I am ready, my IPhone is ready it has Instagram and Diptic Apps waiting to go (love love love the Diptic app).

If i don't manage to post again before new years......have a wonderful safe and happy night and HAPPY NEW YEAR
xx
